Here is our list of Summer 2010 events for our Jr. and Sr. Highers:
Schaumburg Flyers game - (and Fireworks!) Friday June 11th (Game at 6:45pm, meet at SPC at 5:45pm). Well take you out to the ballgame so as to partake of the great American pastime, eat some dogs, watch some fireworks, have some laughs, and be back by 10:30pm. Cost: $10 (does not include food). RSVP by June 6th.
Dog 'n Suds Carwash Fundraiser - (and post-carwash slip n sliding) Sunday June 13th. Come and help the Sr. High raise some dough for the mission trip to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and get fed (Dogs) and clean (Suds) while youre at it! We need all the help we can get w/ washing, drying, driving, cooking, and soaking Jerry Parks. Show up at 8:45am to prep for the 9:30am service fun. Cost: $0.
Game-a-palooza Game Night - Friday June 18th. Show up at SPC at 6:30pm (having eaten dinner) with a shirt to get dirty in, some dinero for Gameworks (Woodfield), and any glow-in-the-dark wear you have. Dont worry, itll be awesome and will all become clear that night. Done by 10:00pm. Cost: only what youll spend on Gameworks games.
Wisconsin Dells Waterpark - OVERNIGHTER!!! Saturday June 26th to Sunday June 27th. This is gonna rock!! Were going to the Mt. Olympus Hotel, Resort, Waterpark and Amusement Park for 2 days of indoor and outdoor slides, wavepools, lazy rivers, wicked rollercoasters, games and more. The weekend is also a Night-Park weekend where they keep the doors open later for night-time rides on Sat night! Yeah, youll get your fill. Leaving SPC at 9am Saturday morning, getting back by 6pm Sunday. Cost $65 (plus cash for meals (4)). RSVP by Sunday June 13th.
Fore!Heads! Miniature Golf and Batting Cages - Friday July 2nd, 6:00pm. Kick off the 4th of July weekend by meeting at SPC to head to the Des Plaines Adventure Center for some golf and batting cage fun (and reminiscing about waterparks). If were lucky well get a grill and cook-out there (TBD). Cost: $8.
Sweep away the Hot-Summer with Ice-Broom Ball - Wed night July 7th. Cool off from the hot summer at West Meadows Arena and hit the ice w/ a broom (and maybe some knee pads) and a ball (or maybe a few of them) and try for the hat-trick (or just some fun). Bring friends, well need to fill up a lot of ice! Well leave SPC at 7:00, be back by 9:00. Cost: $10.
VBS help!!! (Vacation Bible School) - July 12-15th. Help out w/ the kiddos and volunteer to help lead at the High Seas VBS this year. Help is needed late afternoon to early evening. Its a super way to serve your church, and at the end well pop for some sweet ice cream treats here in Arlington Heights on Thursday night July 15th after the fun at Ashbys. Thanks for your help! Cost: $0.
Senior High MISSION TRIP - to the Rosebud Indian Reservation, South Dakota Sat July 24th Sunday Aug 1st. Come with the SHers for an unforgettable trip to the land of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate (Burnt Thigh People, Sioux Native-American tribe) where we will serve, learn, experience, worship, speak the gospel, and who knows what else. We might even find some time at the end of the trip for a day in the Black Hills. Prepare to be challenged and to have fun. Act fast as there is still room left! Cost: $275 (plus cash for car meals (8), souvenirs, etc..)
Junior High City Dive - Saturday July 31st. Why should the Senior Highers have all the fun mission trip experiences? The Junior High group will have their own a day of helping out with Good News Partners in Chicago, a quick shot down the El red-line, then a beach-day on Lake Michigan (Foster Street) with tasty snack-shack treats. Its a great way to be exposed to the needs right next door, and also have some fun. Cost:$0 (but bring some cash for the treats at the beach); RSVP by July 26th.
YOUTH Sunday, complete with Pedal-and-Paddle-ing - Sunday August 8th. This 9:30am worship service will have highlights from our mission experiences (SH South Dakota, and JH City Dive), stories, and perhaps a few pics. And bring your bike, a packed lunch, and some swim-wear for a post-service pedal-and-paddle trip to the Busse Woods. Back by mid-afternoon. Cost: $0 (but bring your gear and lunch).
FUNWAY Go-carts, mini-golf, and games-of-all-sizes trip - Saturday August 14th. Dont let the summer get away without a little more fun with the gang. Well leave SPC for Batavia at 2pm and be back by 7:30pm. Cost: $0 (but bring $ for all the games and for dinner).
End-of-the-Summer and of-your-Rope Finale - Monday August 23rd. Join the gang for one last blast of fun at the Lattof YMCA for high-ropes-course and climbing-wall action. Get extreme and soar freely before school takes you back inside its evil clutches. Leave SPC at 7pm, back by 9:30pm. Cost: $25. RSVP by Sunday Aug 22nd.
